I graduated in my home city of Sheffield in 2001 with a Social and Cultural studies degree and then began my career within Immigration. After a very interesting 7 years and after much experience helping and working
with many nationalities, I decided to change career and qualify as a Language teacher. I wanted to continue my work within an international community and further use the skills and experience I acquired from my previous work and travel experiences.
My initial teacher training began at the University of Sheffield, before completing a teaching diploma
at Huddersfield University, in 2013. I completed a Masters in Linguistics (with TESOL) at Sheffield University, in 2014, which further developed my academic and research skills, as well as further my knowledge relating to language and learning.
I have been teaching at the University of Sheffield since 2012 on a variety of study programmes including IELTS Exam preparation, English for Arts and Humanities, English for Science and Technology, General English, Social English, General Language Grammar and Business English.
Since 2014, I have specialised in the Business English market for a French company. I teach online using interactive software to a large number of professional clients from a diverse range of backgrounds. This is very interesting work as I help them use English and develop their language in very specific contexts.
In addition to these roles I also do examining, invigilating, proof-reading and more recently, assisting editors within the publishing industry.
And the rest of the time?
In my spare time I play tennis, train in the gym and keep fit. I also love music and animals.
I own a handsome Rhodesian Ridgeback African Lion dog, who keeps me busy!
Each year I travel overseas where I enjoy Scuba Diving and photography.
